Privacy Policy
Effective September 30, 2026
- We collect what the app needs to show where your crowd is going: your profile, your plans and check-ins, and your friends list.
- Other users see counts of how many people are going to or are at a venue. Only your friends see your name there.
- We use your location to find venues near you and to confirm check-ins. We don’t store a history of where you’ve been.
- We never sell your data and there are no ads.
- You can delete your account and data from inside the app at any time.
Who we are
MeetThere (“we”, “us”) is a mobile app that helps friends decide where to go out and see who’s already there. Questions about this policy can be sent to support@meetthere.app.
What we collect
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address and password | To create your account and sign you in. We email you sign-up and password-reset codes. |
| Profile: username, name, photo and short bio (all but username optional) | So friends can find and recognize you. |
| Phone number (optional) | So people who already have your number can find you. It is never shown to other users. You can turn off “Let people find me by phone number” in your profile. |
| Plans, check-ins and notes: which venue you’re going to tonight, when you check in or leave, an optional short note, and the “vibe” you report (crowd, entertainment, music) | This is the core of the app: it powers venue counts, the vibe summary and what your friends see. |
| Friends: friend requests and your friends list | To decide who can see your name, plans and notes. |
| Saved venues | To show your favorite spots first. |
| Location (while you use the app, with your permission) | To find venues near you, show drive times, confirm you’re at a venue when you check in, and ask “You made it! Check in?” when you arrive. Your location is used at that moment and is not stored as a history. |
| Contacts (only if you tap “Find friends from your contacts”) | Phone numbers from your contacts are sent to our server only to check which of them belong to MeetThere users who allow it. Your contacts are not stored. |
We don’t use advertising identifiers, ad networks or third-party analytics.
Who can see what
- Everyone using MeetThere can see your username, name and photo (for example, when searching for friends), and anonymous counts of how many people are going to or are at a venue tonight, plus the combined vibe reports.
- Only your friends can see your name next to a venue, whether you’re on the way, there or have left, and your note for the night.
- Nobody else sees your email address, phone number or exact location.
Service providers
We use a few trusted companies to run the app. They process data only on our behalf:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and photo storage.
- Google Maps Platform: venue search, venue details and photos, maps and drive times. Your approximate location is sent to Google when you search nearby or ask for directions.
- Resend: sends account emails such as verification codes.
- Expo: delivers app updates and, in the future, notifications.
- Apple and Google: app distribution, and maps on your device.
We don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information until you delete your account. Nightly plans and check-ins are kept so the app can show your history (such as your check-in count) and are deleted with your account.
Your choices
- Edit your profile at any time in the app.
- Turn off location or contacts access in your phone’s settings. The app still works, with fewer features.
- Remove a friend or decline requests at any time.
- Delete your account from Profile → Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, saved places, plans, check-ins and friends.
If you can’t access the app, email support@meetthere.app and we’ll help.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and access rules in our database limit what each account can read. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Age
MeetThere is meant for adults 18 and older and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above, and we’ll tell you in the app if the changes are significant.
